Chasetown FC manager Charlie Blakemore has admitted he was delighted with new signing Johaine Thompson’s debut.

The 20-year-old striker made an impression after coming off the bench in the Scholars’ 5-0 win over Burscough.

He joined the club from Boldmere St Michael’s having impressed whenever he has played against Chasetown teams and showed his pace after coming on as a second half sub in place of Grant Ryan.

Boss Blakemore said:

“Johaine has been on my radar for a year or two. He impressed me when he played against our reserves for Boldmere Reserves and I have been keeping tabs on him. He is very raw and is still developing but he offers something different. He will be a handful for defenders with his strength and pace.

“He came on for 20 minutes on Saturday for his debut and immediately made an impact. I am looking forward to working with him.”
