Local jazz musician brings five-day festival to Lichfield

A festival of jazz is coming to Lichfield – courtesy of a local musician.

Former Nether Stowe High School pupil Nick Dewhurst is behind the five-day event at The George IV on Bore Street.

The young jazz trumpeter regularly plays with the acclaimed Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Walsall Jazz Orchestra and features in his own popular local kazz-funk quintet Funktional who will be headlining on the final evening of the festival.

The event runs from October 17 to 21 and features the likes of Tim Amann, Callum Roxburgh, Allicia Gardenor-Trejo, Freddie Pirotta, local band Chloe and The Tomcats, Andy Derrick and Doug McMillan.

The festival will also feature Jam Sessions for visiting musicians hosted by the various artists performing.

Full details of the event are available at or at the George IV. Tickets £5 (£4 for students) or £20 for the whole festival are available from George IV by calling 01543 416596 or in person at George IV, 34 Bore Street.
