Luck deserts Lichfield Superbikes star once again

Lichfield Superbikes racer rounded off the season with his best qualifying performance of the year – before his luck once more gave out.

The MSS Colchester Kawasaki rider completed the year by putting his bike on the grid in fifth place at Oulton Park.

But it took just three laps of the triple-header for his race to come undone after issues with the rear suspension left him fighting an uphill battle, eventually coming home in eighth.

And things didn’t get any better as he was shunted off the track by another rider leaving him in 14th at the finish in race two, while a crash in the third brought a premature end to what had been a promising start.

It was an all too familiar feeling for a philosophical Mason after the race. He said:

“What can I say? It has been an unbelievable weekend which once again hasn’t brought us the results the team deserves. I can’t thank the boys enough for all the hard work they’ve put in and they really did deserve something better from this weekend but first the shock let go, then I got biffed off track in race two.

“The crash in race three was a mystery, literally it happened so quick it was like someone had pulled me off the bike. It was a disappointment for everybody but it sums-up how our year has gone!”

A volunteer wrote this. Say thanks with a coffee.
