Chasetown FC Ladies made it through to the second round of the League Cup after finally getting the result their efforts deserved.

The first half was totally dominated by the Scholars as they played some excellent football. However, chances came and went without being put into the back of the net until the 25th minute when Jade Arber opened the scoring.

Kidsgrove failed to stop Jodie Kinsey dribbling in from the right past four players, before her ball into the box found Arber who twice saw efforts blocked before she fired home at the third attempt.

With confidence Chasetown totally dominated proceedings and wave after wave of attacks came Kidsgrove’s way.

Simona Parker scored her first goal for Chasetown with a fine right footed volley from the edge of the box into the top corner past the diving keeper on the stroke of half-time.

The visitors were cruising but Kidsgrove played much better in the second half. The Scholars defence continued to play well, particularly Stephanie Powell and Becky Troth, who was not troubled in the Chasetown goal.

The game was made safe when Sinead Treanor turned the defence and goalkeeper inside out before hitting an unstoppable shot high into the net in the 85th minute.
