Residents praised for playing their part in saving Burntwood’s recycling centre

Burntwood resident’s have been praised for playing their part in keeping the town’s recycling centre open.

Staffordshire County Council confirmed the decision to save the site from the axe yesterday.

And Councillor Doug Constable, Chairman of Burntwood Town Council, believes that the strength of public feeling forced the u-turn on Burntwood Household Waste Recycling Centre.

He explained:

“This is very welcome news and a worthy recognition of the strength of feeling locally, as expressed by the 13,000 people from Burntwood residents and neighbouring communities to signed the petition calling for the centre to be saved from closure.”
