City Council grants on offer to Lichfield organisations

Clubs, societies and voluntary groups in Lichfield could receive a financial helping hand thanks to a grant scheme.

Lichfield City Council’s grant scheme is once again offering support for groups that benefit residents of the city.

Organisations helped in the past have included youth groups, sports clubs, arts groups and charitable bodies. More than 50 different groups have received funding in the current year, with grants ranging from £50 to £4,200.  In total, nearly £30,000 was given out.

Council Leader David Smedley said:

“We are particularly fortunate in Lichfield to have such a wide variety of local groups. These groups play a major role in our community, catering for the needs and interests of our citizens.”

Grants provided by the council can support general funding or provide help with a special project.  The council is particularly keen to receive applications from organisations that have not previously applied.

Application forms are available from the City Council Office, 53 Wade Street, Lichfield, WS13 6HL, by calling 01543 309858 or emailing Completed forms must be returned by December 31, 2010.
