Lichfield businesses were celebrating after the 2010 Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards.

Eddie Roper from Netherstowe House scooped the Service Science Personal Award for Outstanding Service, while Packington Moor Farm Shop won the Special Award for Retailer of the Year.

The awards were held at the Staffordshire County Showground and saw restaurants, pubs, brasseries, tea-rooms and banqueting venues from across the region battling it out for the top prizes.

Competition judge Richard Morrey said:

“This year we placed a strong emphasis on judging businesses for their use of quality local produce and I was very impressed by the support businesses are giving to local producers when sourcing ingredients.  With higher standards to meet this year, it is encouraging that so many of the contenders have done so well.”

The awards show the passion of the entrants across Staffordshire. It would be a great achievement if the county got more recognition as a food centre in the UK. We have ideal location, great produce and above all the desire to make this happen.

Well done to all, another great year.
