Police hunt two men after robbery at Lichfield shop

Police in Lichfield are appealing for help in tracking down two men who robbed a city shop after threatening staff.

No-one was injured in the incident which happened at the Local store in Wheel Lane shortly before 9pm on Saturday night (October 16).

Two men walked in and threatened staff, ordering them to hand over cash from the till.

Inspector Jed White, neighbourhood policing commander for Lichfield said:

“Fortunately, there were no members of the public inside the store at the time. Staff were shocked and frightened by what happened but, thankfully, no-one was injured.”

Officers want to hear from anyone who was in the area just before 9pm on Saturday and who may have seen the two men hanging around before the theft, or spotted them running out of the shop.

Insp White added:

“This kind of incident is extremely rare in Lichfield and it may well be someone in the community will hear about who was involved.

“I am appealing for anyone with information to come forward as a matter of urgency so we track down these individuals as quickly as possible.”

The two men being hunted are white, slim, and around 6ft tall. Both are thought to be in their early 20’s.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Jamie Harris at Lichfield CID, telephone 0300 123 44 55 or, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
