Police have uncovered a cannabis factory at an empty industrial premises at Lichfield.

The discovery was made yesterday (October 19) after police were alerted by staff who were checking the building on behalf of the owner.

Nearly 1,000 young plants, up to six inches tall, are being removed from the industrial unit in Europa Way on the city’s Britannia Enterprise Park.

As well as the plants, police also removed specialised growing equipment including watering and lighting systems.

There was no-one at the premises and police have not yet made any arrests.

Officers today appealed for anyone with information to contact Lichfield police on 0300 123 44 55 or, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
