Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a woman was injured when a bottle was thrown at her while she waited for a bus near Lichfield.

The 18-year-old from Sutton Coldfield was standing at the bus stop on the A453 at Bassetts Polewhen she was hit by a lager bottle and suffered a broken collar bone.

It was thrown from a passing white Mercedes panel van which appeared to be a relatively new model.

The van’s passenger is described as a white man, aged around 35, with stubble and shaved hair. He had a scruffy appearance.

The van was travelling from the Tamworth direction when the incident happened at around 6pm on October 14. The bus stop was on the Tamworth side of the island.
