Minor maintenance and repair jobs will be carried out by Staffordshire County Council’s Neighbourhood Highways Team after residents and parish councils highlighted a number of areas for improvement.

Fisherwick, Fazeley, Clifton Campville, Whittington and Drayton Bassett are among the villages being visited along with Swinfen and Hopwas.

Lichfield Rural East county councillor Matthew Ellis said:

“The Neighbourhood Highways Team has been working in the rural villages of Lichfield to give them a more polished look that residents can be proud of.

“The team’s job is to address small scale maintenance and repair work that, although may seem minor, can have a major impact on an area’s appearance and the way that people feel.”

The aim of the work is to tackle smaller non safety related problems that have often crept below the radar in the past, including:

  • Weeds and grass trimming
  • Minor environmental improvement schemes
  • Verges and fencing
  • Painting
  • Ditching
  • Cleaning of road signs
