Despite breaking their home duck Lichfield RUFC skipper Dave Bassett insists his side were still frustrated during their 44-18 win against Leamington Spa RUFC.

The Myrtle Greens will be looking to build on the result when they entertain Walsall RUFC at Cooke Fields in the Staffordshire Senior Cup Semi-Final.

But while the scoreline against Leamington suggests that Lichfield are firmly on track, Bassett believes the performance could have been even better.

The city skipper explained:

“We are pleased to have picked up our first home league win of the season and collect the maximum points with the bonus point secured for scoring four tries. However, we were feeling somewhat frustrated with a game that struggled to get going. Apart from a good period after half time it was a reasonably scrappy affair.”

Lichfield will be hoping to repeat their league efforts of earlier in the season when they edged a close encounter with Walsall.

This weekend they welcome Walsall to Cooke Fields in the Staffordshire Cup Semi-Final, hoping to repeat their early season league success and get through to the final.
