How X Factor star Wagner wowed diners at a restaurant near Lichfield

The owners of a restaurant near Lichfield have revealed how X Factor star Wagner was a hit for their customers long before he made his name on the TV talent show.

The Brazilian crooner performed at Il Marchigiano’s Italian restaurant based at the Plum Pudding, in Armitage just days before auditioning for X Factor.

The singer, now living in Dudley, is proving to be a huge hit on the show with his fun stage performances portraying him as a Latin lothario.

But just before Wagner hit the big time on our TV screens he was performing Italian opera at the Plum Pudding.

And now staff are urging customers to vote for Wagner in a bid to secure him the X Factor title.

Roma Fiero, owner of the Plum Pudding, revealed how the singerperformed for an evening at the restaurant’s monthly Italian night back in April. He explained:

“At the time he was short of work and was desperate to be booked for the night. He was so passionate about his singing and won me over. We decided to book him for one of our Italian nights.

“He has an image of being a bit of a ladies man and I have to say he is a bit of a charmer. I found him to be a pure gentleman.

“Some people say he can’t sing but on the night I thought he had a wonderful singing voice. He wasn’t singing the type of songs you see him performing on the X Factor but lovely Italian opera.

“I think our customers really enjoyed themselves. He mentioned to me he was auditioning for the X Factor but you don’t imagine he would have the success he has had. I wish him all the best in the competition.

“Everyone here is voting for him and we are urging everyone else to do the same.  I shouldn’t think we would be able to afford him once the X factor has finished this year especially if he wins. But we can say he performed for us at our Italian night and what a great night it was.”
