Police appeal after robbery at Burntwood shop

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at a Burntwood shop.

The offender struck as the One Stop Store in Parkhill Road, on the Redwood estate, was about to open shortly before 6am this morning (November 9).

A male member of staff was at the rear doorway of the shop when he was attacked by the robber who stole cash before leaving.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was taken to Stafford Hospital for treatment to cuts and bruises.

Det Sgt Kiley Round, from Trent Valley CID, said:

“Although no weapons were used, this was a violent attack in which the victim was punched and kicked.”

Officers are carrying out house to house inquiries in the area and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the offender – or any vehicle he was using – before or after the robbery.

The robber is described as at least 6ft tall, of stocky build, and was wearing a black sports jacket, dark trousers, a grey balaclava and grey gloves. He left the store carrying a black over-the-shoulder bag with a strap.

Witnesses can call Staffordshire Police on 0300 123 4455 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. The police incident number is 78 of 11 November.
