Uttoxeter RUFC U17 17 Burntwood RUFC U17 17

Burntwood U17s came from behind to share the league points away to Uttoxeter.

After a bad tempered first half in which several players were fortunate to stay on the pitch the hosts led by two tries.

Burntwood changed tack after the interval, moving the ball away from the contact areas to pull the home defence wide. It resulted in a try for Paulius Kananvicius following a simple pass and draw.

Thomas Hall followed him over the line five minutes later. After several phases the open side flanker smashed his way over with three defenders holding on to him.

The good work was undone with a debatable try awarded to Uttoxeter but Burntwood hit back with a length of the field run by Kananvicius to earn him his second try. Joshua Read converted to bring the scores level and then, in the dying seconds, he almost clinched a win but he pushed  his drop goal attempt wide.

The star player on the day was tight head prop Ed Frondigoun.
