Chasetown FC’s two latest signings had to settle for a losing start to their careers with the Scholars.

Midfielder Richard Davies and goalkeeper Darren Acton both featured in the 2-0 defeat at Buxton.

Davies has joined the club on loan from AFC Telford until December 5, while former Tamworth stopper Acton has made the switch from Brackley Town.

And although the result may not have gone their way, Chasetown boss Charlie Blakemore believes both players will be a welcome addition to his ranks.

He told the Chasetown website:

“Richard has previously played professionally with Walsall and is a rapid and reliable midfielder.  He will fill the gap in the squad left by Duncan and we’re really pleased to have him in the side.

“Darren will draw on his experience in the Blue Square Conference and will provide good backup for Ryan Price as he’s been struggling a bit with injury. He is a local lad and a fantastic signing who will really compliment the squad.”
