Police are appealing for witnesses after a six-year-old boy was hit by a car in Lichfield.

The accident happened on the Walsall Road, close to the junction with Christchurch Lane, at a set of traffic lights.

The boy was walking with his mum and other youngsters when he was hit by a dark blue Ford Ka at around noon on November 13.

He was checked over at the scene by paramedics but was not seriously injured. The car stopped at the scene and police have interviewed the driver.

However, officers are keen to hear from any independent witnesses, in particular the male driver of a silver Mercedes or BMW type car who stopped to help but left without leaving contact details.

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Mark Booth at Lichfield Police Station on 0300 123 44 55.
