Hot-shot Dan Hodgkins bagged a hat-trick and Rob Burnside marked his return to the side with a goal as Dean Gilbert’s men ran riot.

Skipper Martyn Green was also back in the starting XI after finally recovering from injury and, after the game, Gilbert was full of praise for his team. He said:

“It was the performance I have been waiting for. We went into this game with just three points separating the two teams and we produced the performance of the season so far.

“Warriors are a very lively side who attack in numbers and we planned exactly for this. To a man, we were outstanding. Dan Hodgkins is on fire at the moment and it was great to see Rob Burnside on the scoresheet.

“Martyn Green put in a real captain’s performance and James Lawson was in superb form in the heart of the defence. James was my man of the match. He was immense.”

Lichfield will be looking for more of the same when they entertain Knowle Reserves on Saturday (November 27), kick off 2pm.
