An Australian TV star has opened a Lichfield school’s new student support centre.

Sam Clark, who played Ringo Brown in Neighbours, visited Nether Stowe School as part of a tour to promote his new music career.

And he took time out to open the new Success Centre which is aimed at helping students to fulfill their potential.

The centre will support students in English and maths, providing tailor-made lessons in a small, group-based learning environment.

Headteacher Ruth Poppleton said:

“At some point in their lives all young people need a little extra support to help them to move on with their learning and achieve their potential, be that an A* or a pass grade.

“The centre provides a pleasant working environment and the specialist staff needed to facilitate this.”

The Success Centre has already planned support for more than 150 students , with the emphasis on helping them reach grade C at GCSE in the two key subject areas.
