Assistant Chief Fire Officer Bob Russell has called it a day after 33 years of service.

He first became a firefighter in 1977 before going on to rise through the ranks.

And Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford admitted he would be missed. He added:

”Bob built a reputation throughout his service in Staffordshire as an extremely dedicated, dependable and professional Officer who demonstrated competence at every turn.  Not only was Bob a pleasure to work with in a professional sense he was also extremely personable.

“He had a great capacity to get even the most difficult jobs done whilst keeping people involved on side and contributing to the outcomes required.  His straightforward approach was valued and respected by everyone that he worked with and we will certainly miss his contribution as he goes off to enjoy a well earned and well deserved retirement.”
