A £20,000 reward has been offered to help catch the killers of a Chasetown man.

Richard Deakin, 27, died after he was shot in bed in his Meadway Street home at around 8.30am on July 5.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Garrett spoke on last night’s Crimewatch about the reward.

DCI Garrett, who is leading the inquiry, said:

“We’re determined to catch Richard’s murderers and are offering a substantial reward to encourage those who have information to come forward.

“There’s every chance that someone who knows the killers saw last night’s programme and we’re urging them to pick up the phone.

“As displayed in the CCTV footage, Richard’s murder was calculated and cold-blooded. We need to take these people off the streets and bring closure for Richard’s family.”

The Crimewatch appeal featured CCTV footage of the gunman walking in and out of Mr Deakin’s home before leaving with an accomplice in a black Vauxhall Corsa, which was abandoned less than a mile away in Coppy Nook Lane.

Detectives believe that those responsible for the murder have links to the Wolverhampton, Tipton or Coseley areas.

Mr Deakin moved to Chasetown with his fiancee Megan in 2008 where they lived with their daughters, Ellie, four, and Jessica, two. He was alone in the house at the time of his murder.

Anyone with information is urged to ring the incident room on 01785 233600 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
