The streets of Burntwood were lit up during a parade featuring handcrafted lanterns.

Led by Burntwood Rotary Club’s Santa, the procession featured more than 100 lanterns of all shapes and sizes – including a Christmas cracker, a fairy, a Christmas tree and a penguin.

Around 300 people set off from Cherry Close Youth Centre to parade the inventive lanterns through the town’s streets.

Councillor Helen Fisher, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said:

“This year’s parade was truly spectacular. I was blown away by the creativity of everyone who made the lanterns. They looked brilliant, and made a huge impact once they were lit and altogether.

“The atmosphere on the night was buzzing, and I really enjoyed meeting lots of local people who were so enthusiastic about the event.”
