Scores of runners braved the cold weather to take part in Lichfield’s first ever Santa run. The wintry conditions provided a perfect backdrop for the event on Stowe Field. Kevin Wilson, from organisers KP Events, was very pleased with the big turnout. He said:
“It’s always difficult with a first ever event anywhere to know or gauge what the turnout will be but we are very pleased that so many people, young and old and some with their pet pooch in tow or tot in a pushchair, all braved the sub zero conditions and just came along for the sheer fun of it. “The atmosphere was brilliant, the venue stunning and overall it was great and will be bigger and better next year.”
The one mile course circuit of a frozen Stowe Pool was completed with a finish on Stowe Field and everyone taking part was a winner and a donation will be made to the event’s good cause, St Giles Hospice.
