Unusual running challenge set to take place near Lichfield

Athletes are being given the chance to take part in an unusual event near Lichfield.

Catton HallThe Craft Xtreme Challenge takes place at Catton Hall in Alrewas on February 27 and features a number of twists to the usual 10k run.

A range of natural and man made obstacles are dotted along the course, including water features such as bogs, ponds and streams and inclines and declines that are both slippery and rough. There are also fences used for equestrian events to clamber or vault over.

A team of military physical training instructors will be on hand to help and encourage participants along the course.

Kevin Wilson of organisers KP Events explained:

“More and more runners are looking at taking part in events that take the basic concept of a 10k run and then adding extra ingredients to embellish the challenge and we have certainly raised the bar in our efforts to set people a difficult time but also getting total enjoyment from their endeavours.”

Entry is £12 and anyone interested can call Paul Griffin on 079747 698147 or visit www.kpevents.net.

There will also be a special training event at the venue on February 5, with weekly sessions taking place for people looking to boost their fitness levels in an outdoor environment. The six week programme of 12 sessions costs £99.
