Chasetown FC assistant manager Andy Cox is taking up the challenge to shed five stones of weight by the start of the 2011-12 season.

The idea was proposed by boss Charlie Blakemore and the Scholars squad, and Andy will be weighed on New Year’s Day when the side take on North Ferriby United.  He then has until his birthday on August 17 to lose five stone in time for the new season.

Mick Andrews from the club’s physio team has also got in on the act, and he will be weighed on the same dates although his target is to lose three stone.

The challenge will raise money for Chasetown’s Physio Fund, helping out the treatment of injured players.

Andy and Mick will both be on the lookout for sponsorship, and forms will be available from the Scholars Ground clubhouse.
