Wyrley Ladies 3 Chasetown Ladies 1

With both teams not having played for a month because of Christmas and cancelled fixtures this was going to be an extremely difficult game. However, both sides served up an entertaining fixture played in a good spirit. Unfortunately for Chasetown the quality finishing was displayed by Wyrley who deservedly ran out 3-1 victors.

Wyrley were 3-0 up at half-time having displayed some clinical finishing. The first two goals came from good through balls and players being quick enough to collect the passes, then slotting the ball past an advancing Chasetown keeper. The third was an unfortunate mistake in midfield, again the ball being played quickly into the Chasetown area to be well finished.

In the main the second half was Chasetown’s. Becky Troth pulled off some good saves in the Chasetown goal to keep a clean sheet for the second half and Jodie Kinsey drove the ball into the corner of the Wyrley net in the 70th minute, following a good run by Charlotte Bull, to give Chasetown a consolation goal.

Chasetown team: Becky Troth, Sarah Thompson, Katy Bridge, Nicci Barter, Stephanie Powell, Charlotte Bull, Jade Arber, Jodie Kinsey, Sinead Treanor, Carly Edwards, Abi Picken Subs: Katie Thompson, Heather Loynes and Natasha Whitehouse.
