Lichfield’s St. Giles Hospice launches new Lottery Bear

Sophie Bear

Local charity St. Giles Hospice has launched a new Lottery bear called Sophie.

The new cuddly bear is available to all lottery players who play £52 for a year’s membership up front or by standing order. All Lottery players can also purchase a Sophie bear for £10.

In celebration of Sophie’s addition to the family, St. Giles are running a competition where entrants get the chance to win £50 in St. Giles Hospice vouchers. The winner will be the player who has sent the best photo of Sophie in a far flung or exotic place.

Richard Simmonite, St Giles Hospice Lottery Commercial Manager, says:

Our lottery players are sure to be delighted to receive the latest member of our family of cute and cuddly bears – and Sophie is yet another incentive for local people who don’t already play the lottery to sign up for a year’s membership.

Each year, the St Giles Hospice Lottery generates almost £1 million for the hospice, which is a significant proportion of the total funds we need annually, and this is one of the ways we say thank-you to those who raise this fantastic sum.

“We’re very excited to launch the special ‘Where’s Sophie?’ competition and we’re very much looking forward to finding out which exotic and distant destinations she manages to get to over the course of the year!”

Lottery membership costs £1 per week, with more than £3,000 in prizes given away each week – including an amazing £2,000 jackpot. All proceeds go directly to funding St Giles Hospice’s free specialist care for local people with cancer and other serious illnesses. Lottery players also receive a discount card that can be used at more than 100 shops and businesses across the region.

To enter the ‘Where’s Sophie?’ competition, lottery players can email jpeg photo images of their bear to photo@stgilespromotions.co.uk, or send a 6in x 4in photograph to: St Giles Hospice Lottery, The Stables, Catton, Walton-on-Trent, Derbyshire, DE12 8LN. All entries should include contact information and brief details about where and when the picture was taken, and who is in it. The closing date for this year’s competition is December 31st 2011.
