Lichfield HS2 campaigners appoint new chairman

Iain Sands

A Lichfield campaign group has appointed a new chairman.

The Lichfield Action Group (LAG) – which is campaigning against plans for high speed rail through the region – has made the change after founder Iain Sands announced he would be moving abroad.

New chairman Ian Wildy said:

“Iain started the group because he believed that HS2 has no business or environmental case and has no benefit for Lichfield or Staffordshire. His energy and enthusiasm will be missed but the group is determined to carry on its opposition to the principle of HS2.”

A big thanks should be given to Iain Sands for the great work, time and effort he put in during his role as chairman. Ian Wildy is a suitable replacement and will ensure the “fight against HS2” will carry on. Lichfield District should remember, the latest route is a consultation route this does not mean the “final” route. There is always the possibilty of it changing to elsewhere or even back to the oringinal route nether of which is acceptable. So do not become complacent, this High Speed Rail project should be totally scrapped
