Burntwood RUFC U17s travelled to Sutton Coldfield and just lost out to a late try, going down 19-14.

Both sides had to deal with blustery conditions and it took 30 minutes for either side to break the deadlock. The hosts ran in two tries in quick succession prior to half time.

Burntwood responded well to level the scores after the break. Luke Rookyard emerged from a pile of bodies for a try which he also converted. His side got over the line on two more occasions but both scores were ruled out for forward passes.

An error at a scrum by Sutton saw Liam Degville first to react for the touch down and Rookyard converted.

All the good work was tarnished when a silly error close to full time allowed Sutton to clinch the win.

Special mentions go to Joshua Read and Lewis Aston for fine all-round performances.
