Burntwood RUFC 2nds return to action against Stafford RUFC 2nds

Burntwood 2nds took to the field after a long lay off when they took on Stafford 2nds at Chasetown Specialist Sports College.

Although they went down 52-14, the hosts were just grateful to be back in rugby action.

As it was a friendly, the home side were allowed to make numerous replacements during the game which gave plenty of players some game time but it didn’t do much for team continuity.

Stafford proved to be well-drilled up front and quick in the backs. Their fitness also told in the final quarter when they ran in four tries to create a flattering scoreline although Burntwood were also down to 14 by then with a player in the sin bin.

Ross Beaman made an impact on his return to action by scoring his side’s two tries. Steve Blockley converted both.

Dan Thornton was impressive when he came on as a second half replacement, putting Beaman in for his second try, and young prop Adam Slater also got stuck in in the front row.
