Police are hoping Lichfield train passengers will be able to help them identify a man they want to speak to about the theft of a bike from a Midlands train station.

The CCTV image has been released by British Transport Police after the incident on December 16 at Birmingham New Street station.

PC Ali Jama said:

“The 22-year-old female victim left her bicycle secured in the cycle racks at the front of Birmingham New Street railway station at around 5.15pm. When she returned around 35 minutes later, her black-framed mountain bike with pink writing was missing. The bicycle is valued at around £400.

“Officers have viewed CCTV footage from Birmingham New Street railway station and we would now like to speak to the man in these photograph in relation to this incident. I would ask anyone who recognises the man, or who knows his whereabouts, to contact BTP straight away.”

Anyone with any information should call British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident reference B6 of 20/01/2011, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
