FC Reedswood 0 Chasetown Ladies 3

Another good performance from Chasetown enabled them to win their third league match in a row.

The result was even more pleasing given that the Scholars lost their top goalscorer Sinead Treanor with barely 30 minutes played when an injury saw her replaced by Katie Thompson.

The match was 0-0 at half time, mainly thanks to excellent saves by the Reedswood goalkeeper to deny Jade Arber and Charlotte Bull. Anything the hosts created was hit straight at the Chasetown goalkeeper Becky Troth and the defence held firm.

The visitors took a deserved lead in the 50th minute, when a Jodie Kinsey corner wasn’t cleared. The ball fell to Carly Edwards on the edge of the box. She controlled the ball and shot for the top corner, seeing her effort go in off the bar.

Five minutes later and Chasetown scored their second. This time Dani Wright took the corner and the ball broke free in the box, for Kinsey to lob the ball over the player on the line.

Player of the match Carly Edwards made the game safe with Chasetown’s third goal.  Stacey Roberts played a neat ball for the Edwards to collect in space on the edge of the area and she drilled the ball past the diving keeper.

Reedswood pressed hard for a consolation goal but hard running and last ditch tackles enabled Chasetown to keep a clean sheet.
