Lichfield and Burntwood residents invited to join fundraising prom night

Lichfield and Burntwood residents are being invited to enjoy a romantic night and raise money for a good cause at the same time.

A Valentine prom night takes place at Drayton Manor Park on February 11 in aid of the Sharon Fox Cancer Centre.

The Tamworth-based centre was formed in 2009 and provides friendship, support and advice to people diagnosed with cancer.

And their latest adults-only fundraiser is challenging visitors to arrive in a unique style – with the most unusual method of transport winnng a prize.

The idea for the prom came about when Sharon Fox found herself helping her daughter get ready for her own prom at school. She explained:

“I thoroughly enjoyed getting my daughter to her prom and all the activities surrounding it. I couldn’t help but wish that my generation had them ‘back in our day!’”

Ex-Hollyoaks star-turned singer Tom Vaughan will be performing at the event.

Sharon added:

“’We always try to make our fundraising events novel, fun and exciting. This event will mean a much-needed further income to help secure our premises which cost us more than £1,600 per month to keep going. The cancer services that we offer to patients, their families and carers are proving vital and without such events, we could not function.”

Tickets to the event, which starts at 7pm, (carriages arriving at 6.45pm for photograph opportunities), cost £30 and include a two course meal, as well as music and entertainment. To book a ticket call 01827 311665.
