The e-fit of the man who tried to steal a bike in Hammerwich
Police are hoping a computer generated image will help them track down a man who tried to steal a woman’s bike near Burntwood. A cyclist was riding in Coppy Nook Lane, Hammerwich, at 6.25am on February 7 when she was stopped by a man who grabbed the handlebar of her bike and tried to steal it. But when the woman refused to let him take it and kicked out at him, he ran off across nearby Hammerwich Park. The suspect is a white man and thought to be Polish. He is in his 20’s with dark eyes, six feet tall, broad shoulders and medium build. He was wearing a black baseball cap with a Nike tick on the front, a black zipped jacket and matching black trouser bottoms. Anyone who recognises the man, or has information about the incident, is asked to contact PC Ben Footman at Lichfield police, telephone 0300 123 44 55 or, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, quoting crime reference number XA/8548/11.
