Mansfield Town’s manager has predicted his side will make it past Chasetown FC at the second time of asking – as long as Scholars goalkeeper Ryan Price doesn’t have another dream night.
Duncan Russell’s Stags side will try again to overcome Charlie Blakemore’s FA Trophy heroes in the replay at Field Mill on Tuesday (March 8).
But the Mansfield boss believes his side would not need a second attempt were it not for Price’s heroics.
Russell told BBC Radio Nottingham:
“I don’t think their goalkeeper [Ryan Price] will have another day like that for the rest of his life. He pulled off some fantastic saves. If that keeper has another game like that then I’ll go and sign him!”
However, Scholars fans know all to well that Price’s performance against the Stags was par for the course for a stopper who has played his part at every stage of his side’s historic FA Trophy run.
And the keeper himself admitted to The Lichfield Blog that he was keen to continue one what has been “one hell of a fairytale ride”.
