Trustees are appointed from both the community and local government and in a concerted effort to gain interest from a broad and diverse range of people, the Trust is advertising to fill the positions for the first time in its history.

Simon James, warden of The Lichfield Conduit Lands Trust, said:

“The Trust has a long and distinguished history of helping individuals and organisations within the City of Lichfield and being a trustee is an important and rewarding role. The ideal person should have an interest in the local community and have been resident or employed in Lichfield for at least the last five years.”

Lichfield Conduit Lands Trust was founded on January 3, 1545, to provide water to Lichfield. In more recent times the Trust has focused on making charitable grants available to people under 25 years of age to help them further their education. It also provides financial support for general charitable purposes.

The role of trustee involves attending four meetings of the trustees each year to consider applications and to authorise the making of grants.

The Trust has helped with the restoration of Beacon Park’s fountain, pave the market square, assisted with the setting up of St Mary’s as a centre for the community, and it has also given assistance to Lichfield Cathedral, St Giles Hospice, Victoria Hospital, Lichfield Festival, the Garrick Theatre, the Lichfield Greenhill Bower plus many local schools, amateur theatre clubs, sports clubs, guides and scout groups, youth clubs and many church and community projects.

Interested individuals should contact the Trust Administrator, Mrs G C Dennis, at Ansons Solicitors, St. Mary’s Chambers, 5-7 Breadmarket Street, Lichfield, WS13 6LQ, call 01543 263 456 or email [email protected] for an application form.
