Children at a Lichfield nursery will benefit from a range of interactive multisensory art workshops as part of a new project.

Staffordshire County Council’s heritage and arts service has commissioned artists Mark Beeston and Ian Jones to create a multisensory sculpture following a series of experimental workshops with the children as part of the Explore project.

They will be working with early years children at Gateway Special Educational Needs Nursery in Lichfield to explore how young children think, play and learn.

County councillor Pat Corfield said:

“This project will provide a great opportunity for early years children to discover art and enjoy the interactive pieces with experienced artists. Children from across Staffordshire will then be able to benefit as the finished works tour the county.”
