Consultant ophthalmologist and leading glaucoma specialist Thomas Ressiniotis will be discussing all aspects of the condition at a health seminar at Good Hope Hospital.

Among the points up for discussion are the reasons why a person may develop glaucoma, the signs and symptoms to look out for and the range of treatments available. He will also be answering questions about the subject.

Mr Ressiniotis said:

“With sight being such a precious sense, it is important for everyone to be aware of the health of their eyes. Early diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma is crucial to avoid loss of vision and there is much work going on around improving the outcomes of those who have the condition.

“Glaucoma usually affects people older than 50, though it can happen at any age, and in most cases causes no symptoms. I would encourage the local community to come along to the talk to learn more and to always seek help if they notice any changes in their vision.”

The health seminar is taking place on March 17 at 3pm in the Education Centre, Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield. To book your place, contact Sandra White on 0121 4241218 or email Sandra.white@heartofengland.nhs.uk.
