Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash that left a Burntwood man dead.

Twenty six-year-old Jason Evans of Hawthorne Crescent died after the crash in Heath Hayes on March 9.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to a man walking his dog, and a young girl talking on a mobile phone, who were seen in Hayes Way at around 10.20pm when the incident happened.

Mr Evans was a passenger in a yellow seat Ibiza, the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Daniel Richard Baker, 26 of Hussey Road, Walsall, has been charged with causing death by driving without due care while over the prescribed alcohol limit, causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving and causing death by dangerous driving. He was granted bail and is due to appear at Stafford Crown Court today (March 18).
