County councillors have voted to freeze their allowances for the third year running.
The basic renumeration figure will stay at £9,244 after the decision was taken at a meeting yesterday (March 17).

Staffordshire County Council leader Philip Atkins said:
“This is the right decision and a sensible one. It would be inappropriate for councillors’ allowances to rise at a time when many people in Staffordshire are going through tough times and our own employees’ pay is currently frozen.
“We remain committed to our core values of backing the economy and supporting vulnerable people, while fighting the national deficit.”
