Two performers who astounded audiences in Lichfield in a brand new show last year are appearing in a charity night in the city.

Actors and singers Paul Lumsden and Craig Allen received great acclaim for their performances in Ain’t No Angels at the Lichfield Garrick.

Paul played Frank Sinatra and Craig donned many hats to play 23 characters in the play with music.

Now Paul is bringing his swing-style cabaret act to Lichfield to help raise money for Lichfield Mysteries.

And the Swing Night at Lichfield City FC will be compered by Craig – known in the city as the Singing Postman – who will also do a few songs.

Mysteries spokeswoman Ann Mayo said:

“We are delighted that Paul and Craig will feature in our Swing Night. We wanted to arrange a fundraiser where people could let their hair down, listen to and join in with some super songs and have a dance if they wish.

“This will be a great night out for lovers of Rat Pack-style music and the chefs at the football club are producing a delicious buffet supper for everyone to enjoy.”

In contrast to his Sinatra role last year, Paul went on to play the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz at the Crescent Theatre, Birmingham, followed closely by an appearance in Boogie Nights for Sutton Coldfield Musical Theatre Company. He is currently rehearsing the lead male role of Adam in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers with SCMTC, to be performed at the Lichfield Garrick during Whitsun week.

Versatile singer and actor Craig also appeared in Wizard as the Tin Man and followed this by taking on three roles in Lichfield Operatic Society’s stunning production of Jekyll and Hyde. He’s currently rehearsing the role of Doolittle for the society’s production of My Fair Lady at the Garrick in April.

Lichfield Mysteries’ Swing Night at the Football Club, off Eastern Avenue, Lichfield, is on Saturday May 7 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15 with a reduction of £1 per ticket for parties of ten or more. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are available from members of the Mysteries Council of Management or call the Swing Night box office on 01543 506826.
