Professional and amateur actors from the Lichfield Garrick Rep Company and the Lichfield Players have joined together for a production of Tom Stoppard’s comedy On the Razzle.
Based on the plot and main characters from a 19th Century comedy, Stoppard reinvents the dialogue for a fast-paced evening of saucy innuendo, mistaken identities, shenanigans and delicious farce.
When Herr Zangler, owner of an upmarket Viennese grocery shop, heads into the city to wine and dine his fiancée, his two assistants abandon their duties to embark on high jinks of their own. But trying to avoid their employer triggers a whirlwind of events they could never have imagined, while Herr Zangler must temporarily forgo his wooing to protect the honour of his beautiful niece.
On the Razzle will be at the Lichfield Garrick from April 12 to 16 at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee. Tickets cost from £14.50, and can be booked from www.lichfieldgarrick.com or by calling the box office on 01543 412121.
