A group of student firefighters are set to take part in a passing out parade in Lichfield after completing their course.
Five pupils from schools and colleges in the area have been taking part in the 12-week scheme, learning training and squad drills, road traffic collision extrication procedures, hose running and pumping, first aid and fire safety in the home.
Sharron Finch, course director, said:
“The student firefighter course has been a great success which has brought out the best in the youngsters. The pupils seem to have really enjoyed the course; it’s been a great experience and a real challenge for them.”
They will receive their certificates from Lichfield’s Assistant Area Commander Paul Cullen at the passing out parade at the city’s fire station tomorrow (April 1), before putting on a demonstration of their newly-acquired skills.
