As Lichfield and Burntwood voters prepare to go to the ballot box for the local elections on May 5, The Lichfield Blog has offered each of the candidates the chance to have their say.

We’ve sent out questionnaires to all District Council candidates and will publish their responses on the site to help you decide where to put your cross on election day. If your local candidates haven’t responded yet, why not chase them?

Name: Mark Warfield
Party: Conservatives
Occupation: Teacher
Ward: Boley Park

What has made you decide to stand for election?
I have served as a City Councillor for 12 years and I have held the office of Mayor on 2 occasions as well as Sheriff. I am eager to help people and represent them at District level on matters that are of concern to them.

What are the key local issues for you in your ward?

  • Bus services.
  • Anti social behaviour in public places.
  • Community provisions and leisure facilities.

If you are elected how do you plan to keep your constituents informed of what you are doing to represent them?
Through newsletters, web site, and being available to talk or visit when required. I want people to think that friendly help is only a phone call or email away.

How do you feel you will be able to make a difference to your constituents?
Above all by being available to help and listen especially when it comes to irritations such as street repairs which are grass root matters. I pledge to follow up all cases to a conclusion.

Anything else you would like to add?
I am a good listener who is keen to help the people I represent. I do not make promises that I cannot keep nor do I pretend that there is a money tree to solve all problems. I will do my best and not let you down.
