Police have said they believe a man who was found dead in a Lichfield flat took his own life.

An investigation has been launched after the discovery at Handel Walk on Saturday (April 16).

Police also confirmed that the man, who is believed to be around 30-years-old, had been involved in an earlier disturbance with two men earlier in the afternoon.

But officers say they do not suspect foul play.

Inspector Jed White said:

“A thorough and detailed investigation is being carried out to establish the exact details and facts of what has happened.

“At this stage, detectives do not suspect foul play and strongly believe the man took his own life. A number of significant witnesses are helping us with out enquiries – including a man found in the flat at the time.

“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts and sympathies are with the man’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time for them.”

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them on 0300 1234455.
