Groups celebrating the Burntwood Community Chest funding
Community groups in Burntwood are celebrating after securing extra funding. Twenty-one organisations benefited from small grants of up to £200 from the Burntwood Community Chest scheme, which is run by Lichfield District Council, Burntwood Town Council and Bromford Living. Ryan Waldron, Burntwood Community Development Worker, said:
“From sports clubs and toddler groups, to social clubs for older people and support groups, we have a wealth of community groups in Burntwood. They work so hard for their local community, and on behalf of Lichfield District Council, Burntwood Town Council and Bromford Living, we’re all delighted to give them a well-deserved funding boost.”
The grants range from £120 to £200 and will be spent on a variety of projects – including gym equipment for toddlers, a new television for a women’s refuge, and speech therapy sessions for people who are recovering from strokes. John Gilbert, Chairman of Step Forward Stroke Support Group, said:
“Through the help of grants like this one, we’ve been able to do many worthwhile things, which culminated in us winning an award in the Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Awards.”
