As Lichfield and Burntwood voters prepare to go to the ballot box for the local elections on May 5, The Lichfield Blog has offered each of the candidates the chance to have their say.

We’ve sent out questionnaires to all District Council candidates and will publish their responses on the site to help you decide where to put your cross on election day. If your local candidates haven’t responded yet, why not chase them?

Name: Ian Lewin
Party: Conservative
Ward
: Fazeley
Occupation: Retired

What has made you decide to stand for election?
Having being a councillor for the last eight years I know I have more to offer and can continue trying to help all the people of the Fazeley ward.

What are the key local issues for you in your ward?

  • Protecting the green belt from development.
  • More play provision for the young.
  • More for the older generation to get involved with.
  • Create a feeling of community for the whole area not dividing the parish into separate parts.
  • Get more investment in the local area to continue the improvement in facilities.

If you are elected how do you plan to keep your constituents informed of what you are doing to represent them?
I will continue to be available by phone, email and don’t mind being stopped in the street. If asked I’m happy to try to help or fill people in on what’s happening. I’m involved with a number of local groups and willing to talk to or with anyone..

How do you feel you will be able to make a difference to your constituents?
I’m here to try to help anyone that needs to deal with or has problems with Lichfield District Council. If I can help I will. If it’s a problem which the County Council or services they provide I have close contacts with the local county councillor..

Anything else you would like to add?
I’m just here to try to help – If anyone wants to know know more give me a ring. If I’m free I’m happy to chat.

Also standing in the Fazeley ward (once they have responded, these will link to the response):

  • Glen Mynott (Labour)
  • Alan Pearce (Conservative)
  • Hayley Taroni (Conservative)
