A Lichfield Ladies Circle member has been telling the story of how she saved a Lichfield Round Table member during a bonding event.

The team bonding event between Lichfield Ladies Circle and Lichfield Round Table took place at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham.

It nearly ended in disaster on the adrenalin filled white water rafting course when Round Table treasurer Craig Davies was catapulted into the drink after the raft became stuck in an eddy.

Ladies Circle’s resident karate black belt chairman Gaynor Webb’s quick thinking saved his life when she hauled him back into the raft in one swift move. She said,

I have been studying for my black belt for a few years and a key factor is speed and reaction. When I saw Craig in the water, I knew instantly that I had to drag him to safety.

Once back in the raft the shocked treasurer exclaimed, “you saved my life!”

The two groups say the bond between them is definitely stronger after the incident.

Lichfield Ladies Circle is an organisation of women between 18 and 45 who want to have fun, socialise, make new friendships and fundraise.

They meet twice monthly, usually on a Tuesday evening, to have fun nights out, try out new activities, and in the process raise money for local charities. To find out more about Lichfield Ladies Circle visit our smart site. Our organisation is part of the National Association of Ladies Circles.
