Lichfield has welcomed five women from the city’s German twin town of Limburg an der Lahn.

They were guests of the North Lichfield Initiative (NLI), who were invited to Germany in March last year.

The return visit saw the European visitors welcomed by Lichfield’s new Mayor Cllr Brian Bacon at The George Hotel.

The five guests are all involved with working with and for women in Limburg and included representatives from the women’s refuge and a women’s centre.  As part of their trip they saw Lichfield’s women’s refuge, Burntwood Youth Centre, Beacon Park Retirement Village, a Knit and Natter group in Fazeley, a Lichfield Brownies’ evening, and Jigsaw, NLI’s community venue in the refurbished shop on Dimbles Lane.

Christiane Liebendörfer thanked her hosts for organising the visit. She said:

“We have seen so much in Lichfield and we now return to Limburg full of new ideas and inspiration for our own work with women.  We look forward to welcoming our friends again soon.”
