Chasetown FC’s scholarship scheme has been rewarded with its first major success after winger Lee Wright was snapped up by Wycombe Wanderers.

The League Two side have given the 17-year-old a two-year contract, with the option of a third year.

The Chairboys saw off competition from a number of clubs, including one from the Championship, to land the highly-rated Scholars youngster.

Andy Turner, Scholarship Scheme Manager, said:

“This is a superb opportunity for Lee to continue his footballing development. I know Wycombe have high hopes for Lee and Richard Dobson, Head of Youth at Wycombe, will undoubtedly ensure Lee’s continued success. It’s fantastic to see Lee progress as he has had a very fruitful time since he has been here, but he’s the first to climb the footballing ladder from the scholarship, and with interest being shown from other clubs in various players there is a big season beckoning for them as the Chasetown first team and reserves will benefit from the lads’ footballing abilities.”
